This is also my favorite day in the vastly varied may national days 2023. It’s the day when we honor the brave folks who venture into the uncharted depths of the sea, as well as those that help make maritime travel safer and more efficient.

Whether you want to learn about maritime history, observe a moment of appreciation for those who work on the water or just party like it’s 1776 (just kidding), there are plenty of inspiring ways to make this day special. Go On a Maritime History Tour
Educating yourself on the history of maritime exploration is one of the best ways to celebrate National Maritime Day. Guess what? I’m not blaming you if the first idea I mentioned was a bit off the mark. But you know what? Visiting a lighthouse is an awesome way to pay homage to the intrepid adventurers who spend their days and nights on the open seas. While there are many lighthouses to choose from, some of the most iconic lighthouses in America include Portland Head Light in Maine, Cape Hatteras Light in North Carolina, Pigeon Point Light Station in California, and of course, the world-famous Montauk Lighthouse in New York.
Have a Picnic on the Beach and Admire the Beauty of Boats Sailing By
But what if you’re more into a short family trip that’s more casual and laid back? Then why not gather the gang, pack a few sandwiches, and head to your nearest beach for some relaxation time? Take in the awe-inspiring view of boats sailing by while you enjoy a picnic lunch, or pick up a pair of binoculars to spot any smaller vessels you can find. If you’re lucky, some folks on that boat might wish you all a Happy National Maritime Day.
